If I didn't want competition in regards to this game I'd make stuff up as well.

well i would like to thank you for the first constructive bit of info we have gotten about the server since the address.

Now i would like to ask why it was decided to give the fan faire attendees a head start over everyone else thinking of playing on this server?

It saves a week grinding at most.

It also means that power increases come from aa's mainly and then gear.

Sorry but the last expansions that we had no increase were short, and bad.  I don't really expect much if they don't even give a small grind.  It'll be like, oh hey a new expansion let's go grind aa's again!, screw that we did it for months already.

Also add in the content coming out in segments.  Nice expansion to look forward to.

But I'm drunk, maybe I'm not looking at this objectively.

Does this mean you guys have big plans for the content and raids? Meaning less focus on focii and spells and more focus on other things to make it a fun time for everyone?

Hmm no new lvls,no new features,a handful of zones until next year...They better not charge us 40.00 for this.

LoY 2.0 inc?

I mean, what is the overall out-look for the next expansion if no new levels, no new features and just a handful of zones (if latter two are true??)  - Bleak or promising?

I'm getting very worried also, we're getting less and less resources and content.

I thought people wanted no additional level grind?  I know players in VG are ticked about the 51-55 grind, just as players were unhappy about 81-85 grind here.  If they could just focus on raid & group progression, plus new AA's, then hey we just might get a quality expansion after all SMILEY

It's not the lack of level grind, it's the lack of new zones, let's say 5 of them are raid zones, that leaves 7 new zones for non raiders , so almost 2 months in each zone. We just had content with 20+ zones and it didn't last more than 6 months for most.

No new levels likely means less new zones and that all power comes from aa's and then gear.  We've grinded aa since SoD came out, at least a level grind for a week breaks it up.

It doesn't really matter.  But after this we can put level 85 as one of the worst levels ever as we'll have about 2500 aa's to grind out at this level.  Not a big issue, but odd all the same.

In the last year and a half we lost the producer, the lead dev,and 3(?) regular devs. It's no wonder Underfoot is sounding like a mess. But who knows, maybe if they focus on raid tuning and other content things could turn out alright.

I would hope that no new levels = less focus on focii and spells and more focus on content and loot. I hope we get a nice chunk of good AAs.

We'll see though I guess. There are gonna be all kinds of doomsday sayings spreading around this expansion.

we're gonna need a ton of aa's, useful ones at that.  a lot of people will be done completely by november and even more will hit that number soon after unless they nerf aa xp or add a few thousand more aa at least.

im also gonna jump on the "whats the point of underfoot" bandwagon

Erm, I didn't really get much of any info at all about Underfoot out of that video.

Hate to be a poopoo'er but the expansion isnt really sounding that great.

Maybie I missed something?

Edit: Forgot to say, the art for it looked good.

Also, why isn't EQ1 getting a price reduction in server transfers?

If Underfoot is really going to be as small of a expansion as is predicted by some people here then hopefully there is going to be alot of new permanent content additions between the expansion release and November '10 or I could see alot of people leaveing Everquest out of Sheer boredom. especially when EQ2 gets more love between expansions then EQ has seen in a long time.

.....

Lets say we get 15 new zones.

Lets say we get a half million instances of those 15 zones

Lets say the raids take place in one of those instances (just like it have happened since DoN.

Edit.

and who gives a f... about new server being opened a few days before for ff people, its completly without relevance and if they want to use it as a FF reward by all means.

Today was the announcement, the next panel will go into the details of the expansion and I'm sure there's alot more info that'll be coming out from the devs.

The announcement didn't show much, mostly concept art, don't know when it was actually made.  When SoF was demo'd at FF it was in a similar state.

But we'll get to the meat and bones during tomorrow's panels I'm sure.

Will continue to post as soon as anything concrete discovered.

EQ hasn't tried to go a year on a single content expansion since luclin and even then it actually didnt force that one to go a year.

http://eqdev.files.wordpress.com/20...r_timeline1.jpg

And in actual fact, they didnt make luclin go an entire year.  It went about 10 months.  You have to go all the way back to Velious to find an expansion without levels that they let EQ ride on for an entire year without fudging it.  They made that one go 365 days.  But if you fast forward after PoP all the non-level expansions didn't have to go a year without another expansion backing them up and keeping it interesting.  LoY got backed up about six months later by LDON (and LDON owned LoY).  LDON got backed up 6 months later by GoD and six months after GoD we got OoW.

This is turf we haven't seen in 8 years.

In theory it doesn't matter, but shipping a luclin instead of a DoN and a DoD is something this company hasn't tried in a long long time with EQ.

I had some EQ devs sitting next to me tonight at the community address and they seemed genuinely fired up about Underfoot.  I say give it a chance.  Since this is the fanfaire thread I thought I'd toss my blog address out there.  I've got a number of pictures and updates from the FanFaire this weekend.  Check it out at http://completeheal.com

Where did you hear no new features and only a hand full of zones?  LoY had what, 5, 6 zones?  Didn't they say Underfoot would launch with 12-15 zones?

Jyves postings are a combination of pro-soe trolling, and then just plain pro-SoE banter. No point in arguing over it. I don't even know if he still plays, and he sure doesn't have much hands-on experience as a bard.

I'm personally still waiting for actual info on planned ingame changes.

"Next expansion is going to be great & awesome, and in april it will rain additional content" isn't very informative.

Just tells me they won't get a decent expansion done by november, at least they learned something from SoD.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If we get spoon fed content (raid content especially) what happens when a guild hits the roof a long time before the next "batch" of content is released to them? Same thing can be said about groupers. This will happen, its a fact. I forsee this being a bad thing....only good that can come out of it is if the content is the *Best* that we have ever seen and I wouldnt bet on that.

But omg Kelefane take it slow and enjoy the game! lols

Jyve said something about free drinks on Soe?!

How are the nearby cheap hotels for availability around FF? I might want to go next year.

What did FF cost to attend anyways? I didnt pay attention but it sounds like quite a bit of fun!

This expansion isn't sounding all the promising at the moment.  Another 12 months at level 85 but items have to improve anyway to keep people playing.  LoY was more exciting than this with plenty of new features to boost and improve the current expansions. What then is Underfoot adding to the base game that's the 100k subscription question.

DoDH didn't have a level increase.  The main feature was monster missions/shrouds.  Yet it was my favorite expansion due to the content.

You guys do realize EQ is on the down side of the curve now right? Things will never be as good as they were back in PoP days or even TSS days. Xpac's and such will only get less creative as time goes on. I'm not saying the game is gonna die in the next 3 or 4 years but after awhile they will stop releasing xpac's and new content and just let the game die out.

I'm not intending to argue, as EQ is, sadly, on a down curve (just the way of things, sometimes) but I remember watching a review for a Meridian 59 expansion a year or two ago (and that game's a few years older than EQ even, and much less popular) that was heralded as the best expansion ever for the game.

Are we going back to 6 month expansions then?  24 months with no level increase should be interesting...  When they went from a 6 month to 12 month release cycle, they stated there would be a level cap increase with every expansion.  What made that change?

Likely because they will be almost fully automated in EQ2.  I think they are manually done in EQ.
