Hello Folks,

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you all, but I am going to report this thread to the dev team.

Could one of you post some screenshots of the error message?

Here is one, granted the amount of memory requesting changes I noticed.  Sometimes it is 510K sometimes 1.2gb and sometimes even a diff. amount.  But it is the same error everytime.  I am running Vista x32 Home Premium, and noticed it seems to not matter what version of Vista is being used, others get same error.  I too, have Matched Corsair.  My ram chips are TWIN2048-3500LLPRO (1 Gig each matched set = 2 GB)  I have TWO sets of these for 4 GB, yea I know, only 3gb are accessed but I don't want to run mismatched on one slot.  I even tried running just the 3gb, it does the same thing, I still get the same memory error.

I talked to customer support the other day about this exact problem, and SOE official response was... That they do not support Vista, nor do they know if they ever will.

What I find funny it is not like SOE did not know about Vista coming out some 3+ years ago.  But they (Sony Corp.) made damned sure that Vista was chauked full of security for their precious blue-ray DRM crap.

Stuck with this problem too. Although I do seem to get it much less frequently when I reduced graphical settings in-game. Might be worth giving it a try.

I'm having the same problem on Win XP, 2 GB RAM and an ATI X1950 XTX GFX card with current drivers. I might have a work-around for this.

On my last raid with 24 persons I encountered "out of memory..." every 5-10 minutes (on lowest possible GFX settings), this made a total of about 20 crashes during a "Lab" run. This was max frustrating.

After crashing for the 15th time or so I switched the resolution to "window" mode, opened the task manager and told it to stay in foreground. I switched to the "processes" tab and sorted for the applications using the most RAM. EQ2 sat there with about 750 MB RAM. Our raid continued to run around the Lab and the RAM amount in the task manager went higher and and higher. After about 5 minutes it reached 1,160 GB RAM and *poof*, "out of memory when requesting...". I observed that for the next 2 times, at 1,160 MB I constantly got the error, it was reproducible.

The next thing I did was to restart EQ2, observed the task manager and at about 1,100 MB I minimized EQ2 and maximized it again. This to my surprise refreshed the RAM for some reason so EQ2 came back with about 750-800 MB used RAM. It then took another few minutes until once again 1,100 MB was reached, so I minimized-maximized again and came back with about 800 MB.

This no solution of course but may be a work-around for some people in some situations. Please share your comments on that.

All in all it seems to me that EQ2 is suffering from a very serious [MEMORY LEAK(Master II)] affecting more than just a few persons.

My system:
Win XP SP2 all updates
2 GB PATRIOT RAM
ATI 1950 XTX
Sound on Board (ASUS P5N32-SLI)

Hi guys, for some reason I cannot create new threads so this may be off topic in yall discussion.

I purchased a Western Digital External Hard Drive and I hook it in to my pc, ran it and all. And I try to download what you download when you first boot up Eq2 before you select the characters. First it said I need like 6MB left and now after it says I need 103 MB, isnt the hard drive suppose to give more bytes? The HD i purchaased gives 80GB and I still cannot install the hole game.

The files are still on my C: Drive, but my external hard drive is on my H: drive, I reinstalled the hole thing and installed the hole file to my H: Drive but I still cannot get it. Any input will be MUCH appreciated, I've played he game at my cousins and loved it but I want to play it on my pc but it wont work, I got Windows XP Flatscreen.

So I built a new machine  Core2duo 6700, 2gb of ram 7900gtx then upgraded to a 8800gtx, Raptor 150gb hard drive.  Vista Ultmate 32bit.  I started getting this error.  Found the old non vista thread about it.  Did all the fixes there included changing out my memory.   I have it contained though.   I can play all day but if I try to go to the broker in Qeynos Harbor or  run around T'narev withough relogging I will get this error guranteed.  Sometimes I Still get it when trying to take a screenshot but then its usually requesting 79XXXXX (limit 1024).  But mainly this is only when I enter an area full of densly packed character models, after having been playing for a while.   A memory leak does seam likely.

Oh yeah to add, I  upped my page file to 4 gb and added a 2gb flash drive just for Readyboost  and that did reduce the number of crashes to the annoying but not gamebreaking level it is now.

Understood you have a problem, but yes this is the wrong thread.  This is for memory error and Vista.

I have XFX GeForce 7950 GX2 and I get this horendous EQ2Client crash with memory limit being the issue.  So I doubt it is a 8000 series only issue.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.20GHz
Vista Home Premium (Legal, validated run)
2 sets of Matched Corsair TWINX2048-3500LLPRO Ram Chips (4 gb ttl)
NVidia 100.65 WHQL drivers for 8800 series (I called NVidia they told me to use these even though 7000Series in my rig)
System memory cache (auto managed) default at 3114 system Page for all drives. (Windows recommending 4221, min allowed 16, currently 3114)
EQ2 installed on seperate WD 7200 RPM 250 GB drive
Op Sys on Raptor 10,000prm 72GB drive

As an update, I tried killing my page file and logged into the game I had a hard lock with a fatal error (locked before the error even came up all the way), after 10 seconds in game.

More info.  Raided last night in my normal extreme quality but had cloaks and particles off.  Cleared halls and Lyceum had this error hit me on the Vilucidae fight.  Then turned back on cloaks and particles crashed three times by the time we hit the bar in Unrest, turned off cloaks only crashed two more times in the remaining 2 and half hours we were there.

I, too, am continuously plagued with this error. Mine seems to occur every hour(ish), for the duration of my play.

Intel C2D Quadcore @2.66MHz
3GB Corsair Dominator RAM (DDR2 - 800MHz)
Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit)
2x GeForce 7950 GX2
2x Western Digital Caviar 150 GB HD's in RAID-0

EQ2 is installed on the same drive that Windows is, OS has all current updates, and have tried multiple different driver sets (all fairly recent versions) for the vid cards.

This problem is hands-down the biggest issue I have ever had with the game. Nothing can be fun to play when you are dropped to desktop in a crash so frequently.
