For all i care, the "Smed" that posted on that site could have been some crack addict, pedofile's little sister's pimp who just happened to make a screen name of Smed, got in good with the forum mods and was given the subsequent title on that forum just for sh!ts and giggles.

So your saying that a well respected member of the EQ2 Community and one of the most active sites for dev posts outside of these forums, will let someone impersanate Smed for S&Gs?

I would say that, within a page or two, someone will bounce into this thread saying it's not actually refuted because the boss hasn't said a thing yet! 

Well, you can believe in whatever you like, be it aliens, dragons or the latest conspiracy theory - but when it is posted by someone internally on a public forum, you can pretty much take it as fact. 
I'm sure you'll get a more "official response" from an SOE community rep here soon, but since pretty much everyone is on holiday - I'll have to do in the interim. 

Oh...I understand that completely. But, 27 years in Public Safety and 7 years reading these forums, with human nature being what it is.....I can't help being cynical.

I wanted to also respond to the two points above:

1.  I've never been banned from these official forums or any other SOE site.  I've never even received a warning on the official forums.  In the 7 years my account has been continually active in EQ and EQ2, I've not been banned in game either, although I did get a warning on my account once for a naming violation, but I learned my lesson from that.  It is true that a large number of users on my site have been banned on these forums, but I feel it is important for those people to have a forum site they can use also, which is why I created mine.  My site does include some protected, moderated, "non flame" sections, such as the tradeskill section, for people who prefer a more polite form of posting.

2.  Unlike what was alleged on the FoH forums and now above, I've personally confirmed that the person who posted as "Smed" on my site was the actual, real John Smedley.  He registered from and posted from an internal SOE IP number that could not be spoofed, and confirmed his registration from an email sent to his official, actual email address.  That was John Smedley who posted, and not someone else.  I have a very strong rule against imposter posting on my site, and it is strictly and frequently enforced to prevent people from impersonating SOE employees and well known players on my site.

To Point 2: I am aware that your site is basicly the goto site for devs, when they don't post here so I know you take great care in making shure that the people that Say they are devs accually are devs, and that was why I said basicly you wouldn't give someone a Dev Lable for S&Gs because your site is a Rescource for EQ2 infromation. Especally for those that can't vent thier splean here anymore.

if anybody beleives anything soe says all i have to say is:

the quest to unlock the froglok race is in the game and has been from day one of launch, u just have not found it yet.

I really don't know what to say but there must some truth so, now Scotts Hartman just resigned at the same time of this rumor.

I don't know how its going to affect the game.  A lot of players are scared and wondering.

It don't look good when you got employees resigning at the times when rumors are flying.

Something is going on.

I so know when a corporation buys out a new corporation, majority of the time, they like to bring in their own team of leaders to run the company and nicely give the old one of gracefully resigning instead of firing them.  So for Scott to resign, it looks bad.  They gracefully let you go with a good reputation.

Since this is a genuine SOE related issue, it should be handled accordingly.  It hasn't been.

That's my point.  Don't like it?  Not sugar-coated enough for you?  Don't feel all warm and fuzzy inside?  wah...

I don't need Steve Jobs telling me what Bill Gates intends to do with Microsoft... i expect Bill Gates to tell me what Bill Gates intends to do with his company.  This, at the simplest level is what it amounts to when a post on some other forum talks about what is happening with the game rather than the DEDICATED forum for the game.  Otherwise it just is not official.  So i am guessing this is truly in the works.  No one at SOE can be held accountable for what is or is not said on some half baked fan-site.  They can and WILL ALWAYS be held accountable for what is said on this site.  So unless a genuine statement is issued by an official employee on the dedicated forum for the game and company in question, anything less has about as much weight and worth as a pile of dog poo.
