If they could easily add all players world wide I am sure they would, but the legal standpoint is huge on giving monitary items to people of other countries in a contest. Even some of the States in the Unites States makes it difficult for SOE and other companies on this. If you want to blame someone, blame the governments for making it so difficult.

On the other hand, if they went with only an in-game item, this could be rectified easily. No monitary value.

personally I think in conjunction with this contest, SOE should hold one for ingame prizes.

Have guilds from each server send in a few screenshots.

pick 5 unbiased Devs pick 5 guild halls per server to enter and walk through.

Pick 1 top guild hall per server (and maybe 1 or 2 runner ups) that would recieve an ingame item as a reward, where they can display it to anyone who wishes to view their establishment. I dont think it would be too hard to make something within the game that would be a great trophy for guilds who worked collectively to create their own home. Plus, you do not exclude players from other countries, and you are getting rid of the prize for one person, when this contest really should be about working together as a guild and thus rewarding the guild as a whole.

Not onl;y that you can also take the entries or runner ups, and do a write up or interview with the guilds for whatever advertising you may wish to do to promote the guild halls.

Win/win situation for all

Wow.... just.... wow.....Some people take the fun out of everything.

Here's an idea:

If you don't like the way Sony is running the contest, or the prizes they are awarding, then start your own contest, put up an in-game item and judge the guild halls on YOUR server. Whos knows, you might have fun.

Otherwise, it really doesn't help to complain. One of these days Sony is going to get tired of folks complaining about everything and stop doing fun little things like this.

As a smaller guild with a bit of money in our pockets we bought the T2 guild hall and started decorating... We entered the contest, I wrote the essay and took the screenies as guild Leader. I'm just hoping for an honerable mention honestly.. if we get a bigger prize I'll buy some plat off of livegamer or something and spread the ingame Love.

If You'd like to read the essay, as soon as the contest closed I posted it on our guild website. along with the screenies I submitted and a few extra.
