Mage Pet Group/Raid (DPS) Spec:
SUMMONER TREE - 70
Possess Minion - 1
Int Line - 26
Wis Line - 23
Str Line - 20
NECROMANCER TREE - 70
Rotting Line - 21
Pacts Line - 21
Gravecalling Line - 21
This leaves you with 3 points left over. At this point nothing else is going to help you from a DPS point of view. So here is an option on what to do with them.
TSO GENERAL – 10
(Note: none of these will help you from a DPS point of view but 10 points must be spent to get to the next tree. As a suggestion extra power is always good for a mage and extra health is good for your Lifeburn.)
TSO MAGE – 11
TSO SUMMONER – 11
TSO NECROMANCER – 14
Total Points Spent: 186
This leaves you with 14 points left over to spend in the TSO trees. Nothing else is really going to help you from a DPS point of view so go with what you feel will best help you in your playstyle. Here are a few recommendations of how to spend them:
ORDER TO GET STARTING AT 0 AA:
(Note: order for this build is not quite as important as it is for a solo build due to you are in group or raid most of the time and they make up for your shortcomings as you build up. So alot of this will be personal preference.)
GRAVECALLING LINE
INT LINE - 26
ROTTING LINE - 15
STR LINE - 3
(Note: You are now at 50 points spent and can now start working down TSO trees, sadly you will have to waste 10 points in the general tree to get to the mage enhancements to your DPS)
(OK with that done back to our regular trees)
STR LINE – 17
ROTTING LINE - 6
PACTS LINE - 21
WIS LINE - 5
(We are now at 120 points and can now put points into the TSO Summoner Tree)
WIS LINE - 18
GRAVECALLING LINE - 19
Gravecalling -1 (Void Pet Debuff utility)
Pacts/Manipulations (Improve Utility)
(You now have 170 points spent and can now put points into the TSO Necromancer Tree)
(You now have 184 points spent. 70 in Summoner, 68 in Necromancer, and 46 in the TSO trees. You have a total of 16 points left over and 2 must be spent in the Necromancer tree to bring it up to 70. The rest are to be spent in TSO trees. Nothing else helps you much from a DPS point of view but here are some recommendations on how to spend them)
TSO
Total Spent: 200
Tank Pet (Solo) Build
Order to Obtain Starting at 0 AA
When you get your 21st AA RESPEC to:
Manipulations - 21
Then go:
STA - 23
(Note: You are now at 50 points spent and can now start working down TSO trees, sadly you will have to waste 10 points in the general tree to get to the mage enhancements to your Solo ability)
(Note: none of these will help you from a Solo/Survivability point of view but 10 points must be spent to get to the next tree. As a suggestion extra power is always good for a mage and extra health is good for your Lifeburn.)
STA - 5
Rotting - 21 (Increase Personal Damage)
WIS - 23 (Increase Tank Pet Damage Absorbtion & Damage Output for hate gain)
WIS - 1
STR – 17 (Increase Personal Damage Output)
Pacts - 10 (Extra Healing & Pet Damage)
Gravecalling - 10 (Ability to use Scout, Fast Summoning for emergency or pet OOP)
(You now have 169 points spent save up 3 more to get undead tide and can now put points into the TSO Necromancer Tree)
(You now have 186 points spent. 70 in Summoner, 70 in Necromancer, and 46 in the TSO trees. You have a total of 14 points left over to be spent in TSO trees. Nothing else helps you much from a Survivability point of view but here are some recommendations on how to spend them)
It seems a few have liked my ideas for a solo tank AA build. They have asked if I would post my ideas for AA builds for other pets and other playstyles like grouping & raiding. I'm still new to the necromancer class (enjoy it a lot so far), but I was wondering why I shouldn't enhance necromancer-->pacts-->transfer life for the solo spec? I mean I use transfer life a lot, and it has saved my a** on more than one occasion.
I know it's me who missed something, would just like to have it pointed out for me
I've been pwning KC with my necro. I've taken AGI 4-4-8 for cabalist cover... it seems to help my survivability. I like to minimize crits as even though i have a master pet and befuddle gear on the pet doesnt' hold great agro.

If you are soloing who are you transfering life too? Your pet? On top of all the tainted heals? you are risking your own life (not being at full health if you pet somehow loses aggro) for what a 2000 point heal when you have % based heals from TH. Seems more like a life risker than a saver for solo. Not to mention where would you take the points from? Weaken your dps? Hope that helps.

I must be missing something here...I just come back to the game, and the Tank/Solo build makes no sense. Why on earth pick Displel Magic when you could take Necromatic Brand, and half the names don't even correlate to the names in game. Can someone please explain?
Have you ever watched how much NB procs? It is on the mob practally 100% of the time, think a few points spent there might make it on 110%? Not to mention its a buff, the end of that line is Tainted Heals which turn all those abilities into % based heals for your pet. Are you going to toggle NB on and off for the heal during battle? Now you 100% always on the mob debuff is only on it part of the time as you toggle it. As for dispell magic, don't think of what it does now, think of it as a fast casting 18% heal for your pet which is what TH will turn it into. Hope that helps.

I take it that the 1 at the end is Animist's Bond. Take note that when you use this (especally at the start of a pull) yes your pet can take quite the beating but it loses all it's mana and therefore can no longer taunt or use any of it's combat arts. So now you got the mob on you and will need the cabalist cover. I'd recommend dropping AB and rely on TH to keep your pet up. Use Shockwave and Perceptor's Command everytime they are up. Give your pet a little time to beat on the mob and heal him with your Debuffs (Mark & Souls) then slowly start laying into him, dots first (Coil & pest) then nukes (Rot & Lifetap) Take this approach and you will be able to replace the cabalist cover with the crits of Wild Channeling as your pet will be holding aggro much better.
yes i realize that about animist bond... I don't think i've ever ever used it but the last respec i did i was thinking of the mistmore servant standing behind xalgoz in KC.... i was planning on throwing it onthe pull so pet could survive while i was under effects of his "soul paralaysis" then stunning -> rooting and making a new pet. That is the only reason i've chosen it.
Cabalist cover is a new thing for me... previously had the crits. Still evaluating but the cabailist cover helps onthe train in... hell with 3 peices of dispersion and cabalist cover it is no problem training from jailer stairs in KC all the way to foreman and getting to a safe FD spot. I'm still occasionally getting agro without the crits... but i think i can spam more with my recent respec and the mob is dying faster. Previously my pet was outta mana at about 30-40% of mobs health... now with basically spamming like I do in an instance without crits my pet is holding agro better and the mob is more like 10% health when my pet is oop.... still evaulating however but at first glance the setup i have now seens superior. However, I finally added the 3rd concussive blast piece to my solo gear and the trinbal cloak so I'm doing much much less healing and that could be acccounting for the less agro i'm getting.
thank you for the insight though.
