Well, almost.  Within the next few days we'll be pushing our in-game Voice Chat system to the Test server because we want your feedback to make this a great feature that you love to use.

This is the official feedback thread.  Please keep your responses to specific feedback when using the in-game voice chat.  Feel free to discuss other things voice-chat-related in this thread.

Just being curious... will it work like current Vent / TS servers where there are "chat rooms" or will it be more like in game character placement speak? aka people in a 30m radius in zone X will be able to hear you if you are in /say mode, you can shout to all zone peoples... blah blah blah. So kinda like when you zone into an area that is also the chat room you are in. I always thought that would be kinda neat, not very efficient, but would add a never before seen... or rather heard! aspect to the role playing side of things. Random person runs by can ask you for help just by being near you. (^_^)\ I'd totally geek out. =p

Currently it is like TS/Vent but they are working on local chat and being able to listen to multiple rooms at the same time. They are also working on Voice Fonts which I think is really cool.

so far...

wow~

I didn't expect it to work this good. Its a lot easier to "set up" (actually it was already perfect first time logging in) than ventrillo.

A few constructive suggestions..

I created a passworded channel and another player joined NP, but I couldn't find anyway to remove them from the channel.

I would like to see a more visual or one-click muting rather than just sliding the bar to the left. Turning the name red perhaps? A double click? Just something else.

Yeah but so far the biggest problem is that I can't seem to find any way to moderate other people in custom or default channels. Even as raid leader I get no options.

the ui buttons are pretty snazzy though /plug for rothgar!

Like Snark said the window could use a bit of work, it seems overly tecqnical for the average user, Mic sensitivity should maybe get reworded to your outgoing volume, again for the average user.

The sound so far seems to be a lot smoother than I thought it would, what would be nice is if there was an option for people using freestanding mics instead of headphone/microphone is for a mute others option when holding down their push-to-talk key to help reduce feedback and reverb.  Or even a volume slider so when you're talking the other people's voices could be at 20-30-40%. It's one thing that Ventrillo doesn't specifically do well without a complicated list of binds.

this is a really good idea, i need  this for vent and it was really annoying talking over tangarth in game with the reverb that resulted haha

one other suggestion.. if the "Voice Uses" menu is the last thing you had highlighted (like you clicked on it to adjust settings) and you leave it up, you can't jump in game with spacebar because it drops down the channel menu.. voice users will be one of those "Always up" menus so it would be nice to change this

okok one more thing :d

The "Voice Bar" took me way too long to find.. I think the problem is the default opacity has it set to completely invisible (Unless you are hovering over it). The messages are also invisible (As is the [TALK] button) so I think this should be defaulted to 100% visibility.

I was completely impressed with how well it works it's first day on test.

I found the interface pretty intuitive and had no trouble immediately navigating the interface to set things up, join channels and speak. Very well done.

I didn't get a chance to be a channel moderator so I can't speak for those controls yet. I will say I'm looking forward to seeing how the other options work out.

Glad you liked it! SMILEY

For removing them from the channel you need moderator controls.  Moderator controls have been implemented for game-controlled (read: Guild, Officer, Group, and Raid) channels but not yet for user channels (they're coming).  If you do /voice without any options you'll see a list of moderator controls.  You should be able to use them as Raid leader in the Raid voice channel.  We're also trying to get the moderator controls implemented in the UI so you won't have to use a slash command.

The window that has the volume control for an individual should also have a speaker icon.  Clicking on that speaker is a mute toggle.  If you use that mute toggle their chat bubble should turn red indicating that you have them muted.  The chat bubble can also be purple indicating that a moderator has muted them for the channel.  If you don't see the speaker icon it may be because you're using a custom UI that is overriding the textures used for the voice chat icons.

Thanks for the feedback!
