Epic Weapon changes in GU47.

Some of you are curious of the epic changes coming in GU47.  Below is the list of preliminary changes that you will see with the update.  As usual these are subject to change before the update goes live.  Feel free to add in any constructive feedback you might have on the changes outlined below.

Wrath of Nature ( Fury )

  • Now gives out damage and heal amount bonuses
  • Mythical now improves healing and damage spells based upon a percentage of your wisdom and intelligence respectively.  This has replaced the Savage Feast effect.

 The Impact of the Sacrosanct ( Templar )

  • The proc effect should now last slightly longer
  • Added a bonus to reactives based on the templar’s wisdom

Cudgel of Obviation ( Mystic )

  • The mythical version’s Spirit Tap will only trigger by the mystic’s group members.  Also the heal and power bonuses have been reduced.

Dream Scorcher( Defiler )

  • This now gives heal crit instead of spell crit.
  • Now grants bonuses to both spells and heals.
  • Proc should no longer drop when damage is taken

 Penitent’s Absolution( Inquisitor )

  • Improved the Aftershock heal amount and also added a bonus to casting time and reuse time of heals
  • The mythical’s intervene effect has been replaced by a powerful group cure which will cure arcane, elemental, noxious and trauma effects.  In addition, when it cures an effect it will also heal the player for each effect it removes.

Dragon’s Temper ( Berserker )

  • Mythical now grants improved hate gain
  • Changed the double attack bonus to melee critical chance.

The Truth of Marr ( Paladin )

  • The delay is now 6 seconds.
  • Added a damage proc to the weapon.
  • Should now give both spell and combat art damage bonuses

Sedition ( Shadowknight )

  • The delay is now 6 seconds.
  • Added a damage proc to the weapon.
  • Should now give both spell and combat art damage bonuses

Death’s Grip ( Warlock )

  • The dumbfire pet bonus has changed to improve the warlock’s critical damage by 10%.

Eye of the Siren ( Coercer )

  • Now gives a subjugation bonus
  • The mythical now removes the concentration cost of Possess Essence

Mirage Star ( Illusionist )

  • Now gives a subjugation bonus

Havoc, Blade of Treachery ( Brigand )

  • Instead of giving haste to the brigand the proc will now lower their reuse time

Gorynn’s Fist ( Bruiser )

  • The proc will now give the bruiser an additional chance to critical melee attacks

Revitalized Vel`Arek ( Guardian )

  • The mythical proc will now only do 5% damage reduction.

 speaking for my wife, a fury, her exact words are"I'm a healer not a wizard" not sure if other fury's would agree but thats at least one perspective for you

as for me, I think all paladins would like a shield block or other defensive buff on their epic, that being said this is certainly a step in the right direction!

Aeralik can you please go into detail what was the reasoning for the guardian change? Why was this such an issue that it needed to be changed?

Fury Feedback:


I'm  happy to see that you guys have addressed our mythical - since Furies are both healers and dmg the new buff is fitting for the class.

What I was hoping to see address tho was the removal of the savage feast bonus in place of something else.  That buff is hardly used by any Fury and is not on many hotbars at all.  I tried to use it when I first got my mythical but the spell only lasts a very short duration and you really have to be paying attention to time it right. 

I would suggest that either the savage feasat proc changes or savage feast gets changed so that its more useful.


Overall it still kinda lacks the sexiness I expected when I first heard about mythicals - great I can give someone else a nice very nice buff but it would be nice if it had a more direct impact on the damage or healing ability of furies themselves.

Actually the heal and damage bonus replaced the savage feast proc.

Okay.... wait wait wait wait.... Something needs to be done about this swashbuckler epic, and the only place i'm seeing things being mentioned is on eq2flames.com which I know SOE has disconnected itself from.... Here's some suggestions.

1: First and FOREMOST!!! The Traumatic Swipe reducing spell damage of mob by 10% is effective yes, but not at all class defining considering the brigands have the option to have swipe as well... So something along the lines of a temp DPS mod (which swashbucklers naturally lack, would be pretty decent. Or maybe a temporary Double attack or Melee crit proc. any would do nicely over the current not-at-all class defining traumatic swipe property.

2: The proc being a dot is just contradicting considering the fact that we have a mezz... While we solo if we so choose to use this mezz, and the damage proc over time has landed previously... we break our own mezz and can, not always, but can get ourselves killed.... So i'd say make the proc direct damage of a slightly larger portion to be in line with the Brigand and Assassin weapons damage proc.

So there's some other things to consider and I'm sure there's plenty of other ideas out there. Just tossing the ones I see mentioned most often within the swashbuckler community. Please find it within yourself to at least consider adding at least one if not both of suggestions.

  • The weapon no longer looks like someone took every element and threw it at a stick; Also the class hat no longer looks like we weld daily.
i feel like i belong in an insane asylum, or a horror movie with my armor =/

1. As if the Berserker needs more Hate gain.  Do you realize Berserkers rip aggro from Guardians all the time due to their ridiculous DPS?  The last thing their epic needs is more hate gain lol.  Hopefully the change from DA to Crit lowers the DPS enough to balance it out.

2. Regarding the Crusader changes.  PLEASE TELL ME you are increasing the damage Rating on both weapons.  We love having the delay of 6.  LOVE IT!  But you fail to mention the damage spread.  Anything less than 140 rating on a 6 delay Mythical will be insulting.  We already use Doombringer Pendulum to out DPS out Mythicals -- and its rating is 133.4.  A lot more work goes into Mythical and we should be rewarded for it.

Really hope this is the first step towards helping Crusaders in the game.  Don't drop the ball and keep the Rating at 120.9.

Both the Monk and Bruiser Mythicals should remove the bare fists requirement from the STR AA line to rival the Guardian Mythical removing the buckler requirement from their STA line.  May as well throw in Berserker Mythicals should get the buckler requirement dropped from the STA line too.

The Brawler community (and Berserkers) and EQ2 designer/dev staff can debate any domino effect changes that may or may not be required but fundamentally speaking, all Mythicals should be available for use with all AA lines from all classes.

Any plans to change the swashbuckler mythical or even change further the brigand mythical?  As it is we have an ability on ours that is overridden by other traumatic swipes.

Stupid question (I hope) but the Paladin and SK epics are having their delay changed from 4.0 to 6.0.  You're increasing the damage per hit to keep the same DPS right?

Also wondering why the SK's Hate gain effect (Seething Hatred) is a proc whereas the Berserker Hate gain effect is passive.  Does that seem fair to you?  Basically Seething Hatred does nothing for a SK on Raid (as if we do anything on Raid) and furthermore without a decent Hate transfer in group, aggro can still be an issue because Seething Hatred is spotty at best.  Even with Reaver, Lifetap on Coil, Siphon Hatred at 10%, I still lose aggro to wizzies and brigands.

WTG SK team ~ FIX SKS in 2008!  Make Seething Hatred passive for the love of everything unholy.

aggro snap and 4 sec delay on the zerker weapon plskthnx

we have no problem with aggro gain!!!!!!
