I have been designing norrathian homes for a couple of years now, and I always get alot of comments and questions on the kitchens and dinningrooms that I do, so I thought a basic step by step Kitchen Creation Guide along with some different screenshots of kitchen ideas would be a huge help to anyone who sees screen shots and wonder how the heck it was done so they can try it themselves. Hope it helps!

Hello and Welcome to the Kitchen Creation Guide....
First we are going to build a basic kitchen from scratch using very inexpensive items to start out with. This way you can get a feel for making a kitchen on a budget. The following are our basic building blocks we are going to use in our sample kitchen.

The first item is the all important very versatile freeport wooden counter which can be bought from select housing npc's in freeport.
I'm not from freeport, you say, they won't sell to me! Well not to fear my goodie friend you can also purchase these from the housing vendor located in Timourous Deep which will sell to those of the good alignment. These counters cost 8 or 10s a real bargain! You will want to pick up 10-20 of them just to make sure you dont have to stop mid decorating session to go get more.
The next item on our list is the all important column.

These are player made and can be purchased from the broker. Prices will vary. In our example today we are going to be using the small sandworn pillar, but as you will see later kitchens can be made with any and will turn out nicely. I will be using two of these in our sample kitchen.
The next item on our shopping list

The qeynosian stove. This is a player made item and can be found on the broker. I will be using one of these in our sample kitchen.
The next shopping item.

The Teak Wine Rack. I love these things and are awesome to use for kitchens pantries bars and I have even found they look really nice doubled as loft railing! These are player made and can be found on the broker. I will be using two of these in our sample kitchen.
Alrighty, now that we have our basic items lets get started.

FIRST, we are going to set up our counters, I usually start with setting the first counter down in one corner and working my way from there until I get the basic shape that I want.

SECOND I start the other corner, again moving the counters into the basic shape that I want. These counters are quite versatile and you can place them in many different arrangement styles, but we are going to stick with a basic rectangular style shape for our example kitchen.

Notice that I moved the counters on the far wall a little ways away from each other to create a space? This is where our stove will go.

Now that our stove is in place, I can continue arranging the bottom level of counters.

Now we are ready for our pillars.

Once our pillars are in place, we will start placing our topper.

Now to place our topper we will set it on top of our first cabinent and we will move it up by holding the CTRL (control) key and scrolling the mouse wheel up. Once we are happy with the height of the counter we will click the left mouse button to drop it in place. Holding CTRL while scrolling the mouse wheel up and down is a god send, you used to have to stack things to get the proper height, sometimes when decorating I find I still have to do that but we wont go into that here.

Once you find the height you like, set the counter into place and move to the next one

I always find the second counter easy to position when I position it next to my first one, as I can use the first one to judge that they are the same height.

So what happens when you get a red outline on the object or it isnt letting you place your piece?

In this case it is our stove that is preventing placement of the counter. Simply remove the stove temporarily and set your counter.

Once the counter is set you can replace your stove, and your red obstacle is overcome.

Now that all of our top counters are set we can finally see the fruit of our labors in a basic rough kitchen. This is where the fun begins.

The teak wine racks are very versatile and can be placed many different ways. They can be placed low as this one is which would create an effect of it being inset into the bottom counter.

Or it can be placed on top of the counter in a variety of fashions. Where you place it is totally up to you and is part of the fun of creating your own look.

For our sample kitchen im going to place them in the corner, one on top of the other.

So now that we have the basic kitchen, what do we do?

Now is the time that we can ACCESSORIZE!!!

Bar stools come in a variety of shapes and forms in Norrath and are player made. For our sample kitchen I am using the Faydark Stool as it a inexpensive stool that looks nice with a kitchen set up.

A rug in front of the stove is always a nice homey touch.

The walls look a little bare so I am adding shelves to spice it up.

Don't know what to do with all those books? I like to put a few books in the kitchen and now viola! they are COOKbooks!

There are several player crafted foods that were made during the frostfell season. These can still usually be found on the broker and are fantastic items to bring your kitchen to life.
Now that our basic kitchen is complete lets look at other ways to spice it up if your budget is not restricted to non rare common items.

The Ironwood Armoire is a fantastic kitchen tool. They make fantastic cabinents.
These use a rare Severed Ironwood so will vary in price according to the going rate on your server.

I place these using the same basic CTRL and scroll up method that I did for our counter toppers.

An Important side note: Sometimes the CTRL and mousescroll move the item too far up and down, you may find when doing precision work that
you want the item to move up or down just a small amount. No worries! To move the item in smaller increments simply hold down CTRL + ALT and then move
your mouse scroll button. You will now notice that your item moves up or down in much smaller increments!

Here I moved our shelves over to the other wall and added a second cabinent.

Our basic sample kitchen is now complete!
Lets look at it from other angles...

So, what about the stoves I have seen with what look like burners on them?

The Qeynosian stove is great it is easy to get, fast to set down and inexpensive. Sometimes it just isnt the look you
are going for in your kitchen. Sometimes a custome stove is the way to go. Next we will look at how to create a custome stove such as the one pictured below.

Lets take this step by step...

I like to use the acrylia desk for a stove top because it is easy to work with and has a great texture to it for an appliance.
I have already made the space for my stove, just as we did in our sample kitchen for the qeynosian stove in the third step.

I use CTL + ALT and my mouse wheel to scroll the desk to where the top is just above my countertop.

The next step is to make burners. The basic drum makes a fantastic burner.

Move your drum into place using small increments to where it barely pokes up through the top of the acrylia desk.

Now to make the actual burner. The cobalt table lamp is the best piece that I have found thus far that gives
the burner the coil looking effect. You could use the ornate vase etc as well, but it will not give the burning fire effect.

Place the cobalt table lamp/vase in small increments to where it is in the middle of the drum. You now have a completed burner!

Now is the time to place a pot on the stove if you like. I like using the erudin vase thingy.

Once your pot is placed, you are now ready to place your counters back in.

Now that my counters are back in place, I can either leave it like that or ....

I often like to place another acrylia desk to give my appliance a finished oven look. I do this by simply rotating the desk to where the back is facing out.

Drop into place, and your advanced custom stove is now complete!

I hope you found this tutorial helpful in creating your own kitchen designs. Next you will find several kitchens that I have
done that might give you some creative ideas to get started on your new kitchen!
