I saw the vivoxskd.dll patch file go by on the patcher this morning, but there was no change for me. If I try to join any channel, it shows no users, and I don't hear anyone. If I press Talk it says "You are not in a channel". Then I think it also sets my channel back to None after a short while.I have tried turning off the Windows Firewall (under Security Center). I have tried completely by-passing my Dlink 825 hardware firewall/wireless router. I have tried turning off SPI on the router. I've tried creating new channels, and /voice invite. Nothing helps.

I had this exact same issue. It was not a firewall or any security setting/channel blocking, etc. I assume you are still using your router. I had an old D-Link 614+...OK quit laughing....it worked fine up until the update. I bypassed the router and everything worked perfectly. I promptly went out and bought a new N-Type router and voila! Everything works fine.
I understand you bypassed your router firewall, but did you simply unplug it and go directly into your PC? I admit, I did all the same moves and only after a day, disconnected the router completely. I couldn't believe that would be the problem, but it was.
By the way, I went with a Linksys....Hope this helps!
Good point. (undetected mic settings)
Although a router change out solved my inability to join a channel, I still have the red error that "windows mic settings could not be detected". Oddly, everything does work anyway. Voice is clear inbound and out. Still, I hate having that message. Something is still wrong....

When I said I bypassed the router, I mean I unplugged the house line from the WAN port of the router, unplugged the router from my switch, and plugged the house line directly in to the switch. Then I had to reconfigure one machine on my network to directly use the static local and gateway IP addresses for my house line. I don't have any computers in the closet with the router/switch panel, but I guess I could carry my laptop in there to try directly plugging the WAN line in to my laptop.
My router is a brand new, DLink 825 N-type (fancy dual channel). My ISP guy would kill me if I got a LinkSys, cause he hates them.
I have also tried disabling the Windows Firewall, and completely un-installing AVG Free and Spybot on one machine. That didn't change anything either. I haven't tried all that AND bypassing the router at the same time, but that is my next step.
Yeah we know there are some firewall issues, which we are working with Vivox to overcome. We are trying to slay this beast and get voice working as it should be.
This was actually a pretty extensive backend change to the voice service to allow for new functionality going forward. Unfortunately our test cases internally and on the test server cannot account for every possible hardware variation out there.
Sorry folks.

I've had that since day 1. Vivox does not support my sound card (odd, since it's a high-end Sound Blaster one) because it has multiple mic-jack/inputs. It doesn't even matter if I use a back one vs one of the front panel ones. It simply will not see my mic. I even brought it up at last Fan Faire to them directly, was asked for additional information which I emailed them, and nary a change.
I have to make the one input I use for in-game mic my default Windows input (meaning I disable a lot of the features of my sound card) and then I can use it with Vivox even though it still tells me it can't detect a mic (disabling any features they might have for the input).

Did it account for any at all?
Why wasn't this tested more extensively on the test server?
Is there any intent to make voice chat work without opening a massive hole on the firewall? Opening up every port so it can possibly use it isn't a solution for those of us who have any desire for a secure system.
The problem is that it is switching between several different ports, not just once you get in a channel but changing again for authentication several times (which is probably what is dropping people in groups), slipping and sliding through a lot of ports. To explicitly open every possible port would be a big enough hole to drive a Mac Truck through.
Yes, mostly insecure firewalls won't care about that. They'll just accept the application using whatever port when ever, but, since that's also behaviour used by threats to your computer, a more secure firewall won't allow it.
I have my security pretty high on my game computer and don't think it should be necessary to lower it for this.
whatever the most recent patch is actually broke it for me.
It was working till yesterday.
I am now unable to join any voice channels, and even if the talk button on the UI highlights to a channel color, push to talk says "you are not in any channels".
It has been allowed on my firewall and I still cannot use voice chat since the GU. Anyway can we roll back voice chat to pre GU? It seemed to work fine then.
It looks like there wasn't a whole lot of QA on the voice system.
I can reproduce the following without fail everytime:
Using a Plantronics Headset - USB widget has 2 mini plug female ports for the headset's male ends.
C-Media USB Headset
VC will not hold on recognizing the VC option.
Anytime I log in, first thing I have to do is set the VC option for input/output device.
This was also a problem with the pre-update - no biggie but an annoynance.
The BIG problem is if I am not in a channel, I can enter a channel, but should NOT leave a channel and select None.
If I do that and then try to enter a channel, EQ2VoiceService.exe crashes with an OS message.
AppVer os 0.0.0.0
ModName wdmaud.drv
OS is Win XP Pro 64bit.

AND YES! I'M SHOUTING
ANOTHER NEW THREAD ABOUT THIS, BUT THIS TIME WITH PEOPLE SHOUTING, IS REALLY GOING TO HELP!
<whispers> please, please please fix the voice chat!
I have to go into options and change my input device to default and back to the Logitech USB mic each time I log to another character in order to have voice chat functional. This is becoming a royal pain. The input device setting never changes but I have to do that dance to actually get it to work

Dang, brother. That is way more than I tried. I hope you find a way through this nightmare. I think you should try bringing the Input line straight into your laptop. Isolation is just about all we can do to troubleshoot this thing. Good luck, brother!
