Just have a few moments here....

 

Yes, the caves have been deactivated due to how easy it was to get flagged. We are working on a fix to push, which I will get to in a moment.

Recent developments with this update, as well as last update, have caused us to make some changes. We've replaced the QA team and have new QA up a running as of this week. Too many missed issues, etc. that would couldn't let continue.

The problem is that it delayed the hotfix so that we couldn't update right away. We cannot update without a QA greenlight, and with the new QA getting uo to speed, that unfortunately hindered that.

We are looking to update a hotfix on Tuesday of next week. This is dependant on what QA finds. I've never worked with anyone that is part of the new QA team, so I am not sure how they work yet. Needless to say, we'll be paying extra attention to any issue that get through to Live. So please, continue to post any issues you find with any update, current and in the future.

 

Do to the way lycans were implemented, certain flag combinations were either ported away from the Vampire Sanctuary for detecting infection even though that player did not complete any of the lycan quests, or were not detected and allowed to get both. We were under the impression that because testing on it was completed with not issues reported, that it was good to go. Apparently that ws not the case, hence the new QA.

Test Guild was NOT involved in that part of the testing. They were purposely not assigned that due to their inability to flag themselves with various combinations the way internal QA can. So it was us that dropped the ball on that.

So we are fixing the spawn times for the camps. They should have been rotating their spawn locations so tht all zones would see bats at least once per day, but not knowing where in the zone it would pop.

With this, we know there are many that are now mis-flagged, or unable to get their abilities. But in order to fix those that may have both lycan/wh and vamp abilities, all current abilities will be "corrupted" forcing you to talk to antoher NPC who will determine the correct flag and then remove the corrupted abilities and resetting you to be able to get the new abilities at the Sanctuary. If you ARE lycan or WH, you vampire flag will be reset the same as the others, however, HOW you get flagged will change slightly.

Greddy Oldman will check your status as a lycan or WH and if clear, flag you to hunt for the bats. It is only those that have THIS flag that will be able to get infected.

We are in the middle of testing, and will hopfully have this ready for next tuesday. The recent maintenance from Operations on all our servers has given us that window to make an update.

 

 

Even though the quest specifically said to keep the etching, for those of you that deleted it, please send a ticket into CS. They are looking into seeing if they can tell whether or not you've had the etching previously, and whether or not you got the reward. For those that have not received the reward yet, you "should be able to get your etching back. However, I say "should" because it is CS that makes policy for reimbursement. It will ultimately be their decision on whether to reimburse or not.

 

One last thing I want to talk about...

 

There wasa specific reason why certain decisions were made on how to handle the Vampire infection and granting of abilities. First of all, it was thought that it would take much more time than it has to get infected. With the bats spawn times off, that of course made it way too easy.

The reason the abilities are granted by way of NPC rather than having you spend CMs to purchase them had to do with not making the same potential problems with the lycans. Vampire were specifically designed with a possibility ofa future cure in mind. Even if we never plan to cure it, I did not want the same thing that happened with lycans to happen with Vampires.

 

We should know by Monday if we'll make the Tuesday date. I'll post whether it will make it or not.

dae for the 1s who got vamp inf and was ported off well we have to refarm inf ?  

and ppl destroy or sold  the garlic trinket well cs be givin it bak like the etching ?

I say for those that got it already "easily" Yes, I have a vampire toon! it should be reset for everyone and start from scratch, its only fair to the rest of the community!

I had one of mine infected from the 'easy' infection bats, and I wouldn't mind if everyone was reset also, as the quest wasn't working as intended.  Even if it means me losing infection.

I do have a question though.  If they are removing the flags for current infected toons, will mine be able to choose lycan or WH with the flags removed, or is she now required to go vampire again.

One question I have is, I was planning on getting my vamp infection this weekend. Would that be a pointless endevour at the moment? Meaning: if I farm and get infected and get abilities, am I just going to have to do it all over agian after the hot fix?

I am holding off on trying to get any of my toons infected until the quest is working properly.  From the sound of it, I think anyone who is currently trying to get infected is wasting their time.  Too many problems with this update for me to even begin to try the Vampire Quest.  I am not risking it.

How do you plan to get infected when they just said it was down til Tuesday!? If you have a plan to get infected please include me in it! LOL!

All I can say is.. Im not sure Im gonna be able to find the time to look through ALL the zones just to find the silly camps.  There is what.. 6... 7 different zones they can spawn in... and 9 different subzones.. eeek.... By the time I find the silly bats it will be time for me to log off for the night.

I have a question about something ive been confused about.  Does QA refer to the test guild, or when you say QA that means only people in the internal SOE departments.  The second thing is the flags for the WH and weres.  So that portion of this update is solely to remove the flags of characters who flagged both vampire and WH/were and correct them back to their one Werehunter or wereform.  Also, is there any way the vampire will be made enticing to Main Tanks?  As is i dont see the point of the mist form or what your intentions were with that spell.  Its a specific defensive spell, but the person who needs defense(the MT) cant use his spells to maintain aggro.

The reason i ask about the QA is because in pasts update posts he has used the term QA alot.  And i made the assumption that the test guild was a part of that.  And if you look in his post, he denotes the Internal QA, if it was all internal then why would he segregate it that way.  So im just curious as to how this term was being used in the past, its apparent in this post of what he meant for the vamp thing.
