Each week we’ll be breaking down a card and giving you some strategy ideas on how you can utilize them in your fleet. This week’s Card of the Week is the “La Sirviente ”!

Name: La Sirviente
Rarity:Uncommon
Type: Ship
Cost: 14 Points
Faction: Spanish
Cargo: 3
Movement: S+L
Guns: 2L, 2S, 2L
Ability: Schooner. As past of the move action, this ship may initiate a boarding party against a ship up to S away from her, without having to ram. The boarded ship may not use any boarding bonuses.
Card Set: Pirates of the Mysterious Islands

Notes:
The La Sirviente is a very powerful ship to have on your side! When matched with crew that can eliminate all of the opposing crew upon winning a boarding party -- this ship becomes extremely dangerous to those crew heavy fleets such as those who employ the "RedEx" tactic. The ship also has devestatingly strong cannons -- 2 long and 2 short, which is as close to a guarenteed hit as you'll likely come!

The speed of the ship is also a major factor -- S+L is quick but matched with a helmsman and it's not going to have much competition getting to just the right spots quickly on the playing field. Overall this is a powerful, quick, ship, that can cause havoc on the high seas!

This is a very nice ship ... the 3 masts are less than ideal for a boarding ship unless you have bonuses, but if used correctly can be devastating.

This board ability can be used in addition to a regular boarding giving you 2 potential boards on the same turn.  You can board 1 ship or 2 depending on your needs.  If you have someone like the Inquisitor, you can potentially wipe out 2 entire crew sets in 1 turn!

The cannons are strong, the speed is very good.  It needs 1 more mast to really be outstanding but it is very good.

This is a good complimentary gunship (a #2 ship in a fleet)

My only question about this decent ship is WHY DOES THE LINKED CREW (THE MASK) HAVE THE SAME SPECIAL ABILITY???  (I feel better now.. SMILEY )

ie As past of the move action, this ship may initiate a boarding party against a ship up to S away from her, without having to ram. The boarded ship may not use any boarding bonuses.

Only one of them can be used so using the linked crew doesn't gain you much.

Because Wizkids does links based on "flavour" not abilities.  There are other not so bright links.  I know of at least one where the crew's ability is to take crew from other ships (can't remember his name, but I think he's British from DJC) except he is the same cost as the ship he is linked to, so no other crew can fit.  And if the crew can't fit the ability can't happen.

There's also a link somewhere (might not be in a set that has been released for online yet) where the linked crew is higher than the cost of the ship, so he can't go on it at all.

Another horrid link - Mademoiselle Josephine Godiva and Jacques, Duc de Valois - they both have the reroll ability

and they're linked?

As Spanish ships go, its better than most Canz -wise and speed is exceptional , but super boarding on a 3 master is a bit of a waste ,  even w/ Castro's Boyz.  Which is probably how you'd stack it w/ El Capitan, helms and Geriatric captain to boot.   Not enough of a ship to consider Luis Zuan for tho, as the points start stackin up, and I start looking at other ships.  1-5, I'd give it a  4
