Guide: Understanding "No Trade" items
In many online RPG games, there are some items that will have restrictions on trading them. This can be frustrating for players as they may not understand why such a restriction has been placed on an item that they have obtained, but cannot use and cannot trade to another player.
This guide seeks to address the common reasons behind this restriction and alieviate some of the frustration that this system causes.

What are you going to do about No Trade? Players don't like it . –Sassums
Loche: No-Trade isn't going away. It is also not a true statement to say that all players dislike like it. "No-Trade" is a standard game mechanic, and has always been in the game. The very first no-trade item, the Special Edition Goggles, was there at launch. We have reduced the number of no-trade items going into the game. In the past nearly all of the rewards for GMF, Lifeday, and EFoL would have been no-trade. Additionally, we have removed the no-trade flags from some of the existing "no-trade" items in the game (Xeno furniture, etc). We have a system going in to allow you to consume your once per account item and re-claim it on another character.

I see where SOE is coming from on this one(what Loche wrote below) which is perhaps easier or more difficult compared to what WoW has been doing for certain items.
WoW(World of Warcraft) has been adding the tag/status of "Bind on Account" to certain items which are otherwise "No Trade" to other players except the characters on the account that possesses the "Bind on Account" item.
"No Trade" decorative items, ship chassis, armor(excluding Elder Jedi robes), weapons(excluding Lightsabers), Special Edition items(Decorative Items, Vehicles, SE Goggles, Wearables, etc...) should be converted to "Bind on Account" which again is the status where it can be traded between characters on the same account through dropping it in a structure that another character on your account possesses without the hassle of the cooldown, and what not of the new email code to transfer items.
However the "Bind on Account" tag isn't to be taken completely literally. It it binded to the galaxy of the character the item was originally received on, once it was received on a character on Bloodfin for example.. Once claimed on a character on Bloodfin it can only be traded to your other characters on that account on the Bloodfin galaxy.
The 1 exception to this is if the character on... again as an example, Bloodfin, were to transfer to another galaxy. If that character which is not necessarily the character you originally claimed it on, was in possession of a BoA item, would be able to trade it to alts he would make in the future or already had on the target galaxy.
Unless you transferred the original character or an alt on said galaxy back to Bloodfin depending on which is in possession of the BoA item, you can no longer have it on the original galaxy unless you transfer it back.

Explain the combination of bio link + no trade please.

Thanks. Seems to me that the bio-link on these is certainly not needed.

I assume the Bio-Link popped up after this change to remove the unique tag?

You could assume that, but you still have the redundancy of no-trade and bio-link in the same window.
RaveKidd wrote:You could assume that, but you still have the redundancy of no-trade and bio-link in the same window. I'm not arguing that this isn't a daft and redundant set of restrictions, just trying to work out how it got like that.
when did the no trade start appearing? RoTW or ToOw? just like to know. its been awhile since it started, cant remember the first issue of it besides jedi sabers pre-cu
But in your picture, all 3 are there: bio-link, no trade and unique.
Probably an old pic, I'll find something more recent.
Probably good to use that pic as a reference of what was though.
...the vast majority of players want no trade to go away and be replaced with bio-link...
No Trade
Prevents trade of an item to another player.
Bio-link
Prevents re-use of an item by another player. Does not prevent trade of the item.
Two very different things, serving two very different purposes.
Replacing something like the low level Jedi robes and cloaks with bio link means the market is suddenly flooded with these items, so instead of hunting for their armour, Jedi can pick it up from a player vendor for 100cr.
What about restuss weapons and armor with the no trade tag, the items can be purchased by any toon in the form of comms , seems to be very inconsistant.
Also the crystals rewarded in space for the nova orion missions are no trade but all the rewards can be traded.
The no-trade tag on stuff like the respec kit make sense but it seems like a lot of no trade items would be better suited to an auto biolink.
how does the unique tag play into this ?

Commendations being tradeable and the Commendation Officer's rewards not being tradeable... encourages players to gain even a small number of commendations, rather than just batches of 300.Midlithe Crystals not being tradeable but the rewards being tradeable... seems the crystals are needed to advance in quests as well as for rewards.
Unique is there to stop you owning more than one of those items, the by-product is that you also can't drop it in a house, as you could potentially bypass this restriction if that were possible.
